Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto is a 339-bed acute care hospital located in Southaven, Mississippi. Their highly skilled and experienced doctors, nurses and staff provide a wide range of health care services, including ancillary, cancer, emergency and surgical, heart, neurology, women’s and children’s services, and more. Baptist-DeSoto was the first hospital in DeSoto County to offer open-heart surgery.

Case Assignments

Regional, Cardiovascular (CV), EP Lab cases, Neurology, Orthopedics, Obstetrics, General, Urology, and Well Peds, Pulmonary(bronchoscopy), Gastroenterology (EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP), Interventional Radiology, 

Shifts

2 weeks on, 1 week off position 

18 weeks of 7a-5p shift or 17.5 weeks of call and 17.5 weeks of day shift

Team Highlights

The anesthesia care team approach provides a collaborative work environment where CRNAs, MDs, and the surgical team share strong, respectful relationships—led by inspiring and supportive leadership. 

Currently our care team model includes approximately 3 anesthesiologists and 15 CRNAs, who have created a cohesive group. 

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Pre-anesthesia assessment 

• Obtains and/or verifies patient consent 

• Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient 

• Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia 

• Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition 

• Performance of clinical intervention as needed 

• Assist in the directing and coordinating of activities in the

• Anesthesia Department 

• Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures 

Requirements

• M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine 

• ECFMG and FLEX 

• Completion of approved residency in anesthesia 

• Currently licensed as a physician in Mississippi 

• Board Certification or actively board eligible by the American Board of Anesthesia.
