As an Assistant County Attorney - Litigation Specialist with Multnomah County's Office of the County Attorney , you will be a part of the County's in-house legal team. As a litigation generalist, you will manage a full caseload and handle all aspects of litigation from initial case analysis, responsive pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and trial and appeals in state and federal courts. Primary areas of responsibility will be state tort and employment litigation, 42 U.S.C. §1983 litigation, concealed handgun and firearm cases under ORS 166.293 and ORS 166.274, habeas corpus petitions, and other matters as assigned.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to represent the County in a variety of complex legal areas with minimal direction and supervision. They have the ability to utilize problem solving and innovation to provide creative options to help clients achieve their goals. Highest quality legal work, strong work ethic, ability to work as an effective member of a legal team, and intellectual curiosity.

Law degree from an accredited college or university.
Between 1 and 4 years of relevant experience
Current membership of Oregon State Bar, admitted to practice in Oregon State Court; certified or eligible for admission to practice in U.S. District Courts for the State of Oregon and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ability to pass a professional reference check

Additional years of litigation and trial experience
Experience with public sector and municipal law, highlighting any particular experience with cases involving constitutional and civil rights claims, federal and state employment claims, contract claims, tort claims including professional liability, and all other claims involving state or local government
Experience working in a high volume environment or working with clients who work in a high volume environment
Experience prosecuting or defending civil claims in Oregon state and federal courts.
