Job Title: Barista

Location: Abbey's Bakehouse

We are looking for a friendly and passionate Barista to join our team. As a Barista, you will be the face of our coffee shop and will have the opportunity to create an exceptional experience for our customers by preparing high-quality beverages, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Beverage Preparation:

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty beverages.

Ensure the highest quality standards for each drink, including proper preparation, presentation, and taste.

Follow recipes and customize beverages based on customer preferences.

Customer Service:

Greet customers warmly and take their orders efficiently.

Provide knowledgeable recommendations on menu items and drink options.

Maintain a friendly, positive, and professional attitude with customers at all times.

Address customer concerns or complaints in a calm, respectful manner and escalate issues to the manager when necessary.

Cash Handling & Register Operation:

Accurately process customer payments through the point-of-sale (POS) system.

Handle cash and credit card transactions with attention to detail and maintain a balanced cash register.

Cleanliness & Organization:

Keep the coffee bar area clean and organized, including regularly sanitizing equipment, countertops, and common areas.

Refill supplies and maintain stock levels to ensure a smooth service flow.

Follow health and safety standards to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with team members to maintain a positive, productive environment.

Assist with opening and closing duties, including restocking inventory, cleaning, and setting up the work area for the next shift.

Product Knowledge

Stay up-to-date with the latest coffee trends, menu items, and seasonal offerings.

Suggest and upsell additional items such as pastries, snacks, or new beverages to enhance the customer experience.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a Barista or in a customer service role is preferred but not required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.

Strong work ethic and reliability with the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

A passion for coffee and coffee culture is a plus!

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., carrying milk containers or coffee beans).

Comfortable working in a high-energy environment.
