About the Role
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the powersports and off-road equipment industry, is seeking a hands-on Buyer to manage a high-volume supply chain operation within a fast-paced, shop-floor–driven environment. This facility produces performance suspension components for snowmobiles, ORVs, and aftermarket customers. With roughly 80 employees across machining, assembly, and office functions, the Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted production through accurate purchasing, supplier management, and excellent communication. This is not a sit behind a desk all day role — frequent interaction on the shop floor is essential. The ideal candidate thrives in a manufacturing environment, is highly organized, and brings strong analytical and Excel skills to support continuous improvements in cost, delivery, and supplier performance.
Job Description
The Buyer is responsible for managing the supply base to ensure that all suppliers meet expectations for quality, delivery, cost, and technology. This role partners closely with internal teams and external vendors, ensuring materials and components arrive on time to support production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage supplier quality performance and corrective actions
  • Oversee purchase price management and total acquisition cost of outsourced components
  • Conduct make-vs-buy analyses
  • Prepare and solicit RFQs and proposals
  • Support new product development from concept through production
  • Assist in supplier selection and facilitate early supplier involvement in design
  • Identify new product and process technologies within the supply base
  • Lead supplier negotiations and problem-resolution discussions
  • Coordinate component releases and design changes with suppliers
  • Monitor supplier lead-times, capacity, and on-time delivery performance
  • Expedite deliveries when required to support production
  • Submit tooling requisitions in accordance with company procedures
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of purchasing or related experience (buyer, planner, sourcing, materials, etc.)
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and vlookups
  • Previous materials or purchasing experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Effective negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings or technical documentation
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a technical discipline
  • APICS CPIM or ISM certifications (C.P.M., A.P.P.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or other ERP/MRP systems
  • Familiarity with MAPICS MRP
  • Background in a manufacturing, machining, or production environment
