CDL Dump Truck Driver Gas Distribution

Job Description/Position Summary

The CDL Driver – Gas Distribution will be assigned to a crew and assist in the installation, repair, and replacement of underground natural gas pipelines and related services. This position consists of approximately 20% CDL driving duties and 80% laborer duties.

This is a physically demanding role that requires working in outdoor construction environments while supporting gas distribution pipeline construction, maintenance, and repair. The individual will be responsible for operating CDL-required vehicles while also performing general labor tasks and supporting the crew as needed.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

· Operate CDL-required vehicles including dump trucks, trailers, and equipment haulers over 26,000 lbs

· Haul equipment, pipe, materials, and debris to and from job sites

· Load, unload, and secure materials using chains, straps, tarps, and other tie-down methods

· Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required documentation

· Maintain driver logs when required

· Assist crew with labor duties including digging, shoveling, and site preparation

· Perform heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs on a regular basis

· Work in various weather conditions and job site environments

· Follow all safety policies and procedures while maintaining awareness in the “red zone”

· Necessary maintenance on truck (grease truck) if needed.

· Perform duties as assigned by supervisor to support overall crew production and efficiency

Qualifications:

· Valid CDL-A or B Driver’s License (required) (no restriction)

· Minimum 1 year CDL driving experience

· Minimum 1 year heavy labor experience

· Valid DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain)

· High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Knowledge of underground utilities and locator markings

· Ability to safely operate CDL vehicles in close proximity to workers and utilities

· Ability to properly secure loads and operate hauling equipment

· Strong communication and teamwork skills

· Reliable, dependable, and strong work ethic

· Ability to follow directions and always maintain safety awareness

· Ability to adapt to changing job sites, schedules, and tasks

Employment Requirements:

- Valid Drivers License and Reliable Transportation

- Must provide documentation to verify identity and employment eligibility in accordance with federal I-9 requirements

- Ability to pass drug test and background check

- Willingness to travel and work in different areas as needed

- Commitment to following all Safety Policies and Procedures

- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor

- Ability to work overtime and extended hours based on workload

- Must be 18 years of age

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs regularly

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods

· Ability to work in demanding outdoor construction environments

Work Environment:

· Outdoor construction job sites in varying weather conditions

· Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, traffic, and uneven terrain

· Work performed in close proximity to active construction operations and utilities

Schedule/Travel Requirements

· Full-time position with potential for overtime and weekend work

· Travel required depending on job location and project needs

· Flexibility to work extended hours and overnight stays when necessary
