Job Summary:

A Dietary Aide assists in preparing and serving meals and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Pouring juices and ice water for breakfast
2. Responsible for dishing and serving salad and dessert for main meal when needed
3. Assisting cook when needed
4. Taking trays to residents if ill
5. Serving hot entrees for breakfast and main meal
6. Reporting to nurse any resident not in dining area
7. Clearing dining area for breakfast and main meal and washing dishes.
8. Taking temperatures on refrigerators
9. Cleaning jobs
10. Attend all mandatory meetings and inservices
11. Set up for all catering functions
12. Help and assist residents during drills
13. Dish room set-up for breakfast and main meal
14. Passing of fresh fruit
15. Stocking cold cereal cart and cracker baskets
16. Filling milk and water pitchers and butter dishes
17. Cleaning dish room area
18. Placing milk order

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. All other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Must withstand hot humid temperatures during summer months. Wet slippery mats and floors in dish room; hot water when doing dishes; soap and cleaning compounds are safe if handled properly; hot coffee and water machines

Qualifications Necessary to Perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

High school graduate or equivalent. Must be able to read instructions on food and cleaning products, machinery, schedules and directives in dietary department. Must be able to write messages when answering the telephone.
