Job Description

This position involves working in the field to install a variety of agricultural fencing, including fence posts, wires, gates, steel fencing, composite fencing, and wood fencing.

Responsibilities

• Assist the foreman in digging post holes and unloading tools and equipment.
• Lift and install fence gates, pour concrete, and perform construction site clean-up.
• Consistently engage in lifting, stretching, and loading equipment manually.
• Work with various fence materials such as picket, privacy, split rail, cedar wood fences, chain link, ornamental steel, aluminum, vinyl, and farm/ranch.

Essential Skills

• Experience in construction, installation, and fence building.
• General labor skills, including lifting and using power tools.
• Familiarity with concrete construction and landscaping.
• Ability to operate a skid loader.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Entry-level carpentry skills.

Work Environment

Projects vary from 50 to 600 feet of fencing, requiring work outdoors in various weather conditions. The team consists of three crew members and a working owner. The company provides specialized equipment to ease the workload, including augers, gas-powered post drivers, and skid loaders. Dress code includes jeans, T-shirt (no sleeveless), and construction boots, with logoed T-shirts and sweatshirts provided by the company. Work hours are 7 am to 5 pm, Monday to Thursday, with occasional work on Fridays. The team operates within a 60-mile radius of Cambridge, reporting to the shop each morning and traveling to job sites in a company vehicle. Personal protective equipment, including hard hats and safety glasses, is provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huxley, IA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
