Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join a dynamic and essential legal department. This role is a vital support function, ensuring seamless operation for Counsel and Paralegals who manage complex matters in labor relations, employee benefits, and regulatory compliance.

work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM

Responsibilities
- Document Management & Filing: Organize, maintain, and manage physical and electronic case files, legal correspondence, and compliance documents for easy retrieval.
- Legal Drafting and Review: Draft, transcribe, and proofread legal documents, including internal memoranda, letters, contract addenda, and abstracts for accuracy and proper formatting.
- Compliance and Contracts: Assist in the review and analysis of collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliance with Fund standards and organizational policy.
- Administrative Support: Manage Legal Department calendars, schedule meetings (including court dates and appointments), and monitor deadlines to ensure timely filing and response to legal matters.
- Communication: Handle professional communication with internal staff, external counsel, participants, and vendors, while maintaining strict client and patient confidentiality.
- Research: Perform initial background and statistical/documentary research on legal issues, new legislation, and specific plan unit nuances as directed by Counsel or Paralegal staff.
- Data Management: Prepare and analyze reports using the legal database and other sources for internal reporting and case management.
- Office Support: Handle routine administrative tasks such as answering and directing phone calls, making copies, processing mail, and preparing expense reports.
