Description Position at PETS Referral Center Part Time Emergency Veterinary Technician Veterinary Technician (RVT) / Experienced Veterinary Assistant Seeking a compassionate, skilled, upbeat Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our tight-knit team. Who are we looking for? Please have a positive personality, be capable of effective communication, enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment, multi-task like a pro, and have a well-rounded skill set and solid knowledge base. As we are a 24-hour emergency hospital please be willing to work outside of the boring 9am-5pm weekday schedule, specifically weekend day shifts or evenings. We prefer someone with at least one year of experience working as a technician in a veterinary hospital.
Responsibilities include: - Assisting Veterinarians and other staff members
- Restraining animals safely using stress-free handling techniques
- Working collaboratively and positively with all coworkers
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients and medical care to outpatients
- Successfully use all in house laboratory equipment to provide accurate results
- Safely and effectively take digital radiographs
- Be able to calculate drug dosages
- Giving medications via all prescribed routes: PO, SC, IM, IV
- Proficiency with catheterization (venous, urinary)
- Possess or develop advanced emergency skills
- Comfortable with all aspects of emergency medicine
- Effectively care for and communicate with clients
