Job Summary We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Universal Starting Platform (USP) technology team. In this role, you will design, build, test, and maintain software solutions that support a scalable, cloud‑based healthcare platform used by providers and care teams nationwide.
You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into reliable, high‑quality software. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building modern applications, collaborating in cross‑functional teams, and continuously improving how software is delivered.
Key Responsibilities - Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support
- Collaborate with Product and Design partners to understand requirements and deliver working solutions
- Build and maintain scalable, cloud‑based services and user‑facing applications
- Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code following established engineering standards
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to shared engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and production issues within owned components
- Contribute to improving system reliability, performance, security, and maintainability
- Work effectively within an agile, team‑based development environment
Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of professional software development experience and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Required Qualifications - Experience with one or more modern programming languages or frameworks
- Familiarity with building or consuming APIs and services
- Experience working in a team‑based, collaborative development environment
- Ability to learn new technologies and apply feedback to improve technical skills
Preferred Qualifications - Experience developing cloud‑based applications (Azure experience is a plus)
- Exposure to modern front‑end frameworks (e.g., React) or backend service development
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
- Experience working with event‑driven or distributed systems
- Interest in healthcare, platform engineering, or large‑scale systems
- Experience delivering AI-enabled capabilities and automated processes in production environments.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position $106,900 - $178,100
