Anesthesia Technician II
Location: Austin, TX
Department: Surgical Services Administration
Starting Pay Rate: $33.46/hr (Based on experience) + Full Benefits
Shift: Schedule varies; primarily Monday-Friday
- 7:00 PM-7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
- 10:30 PM-7:00 AM (8-hour shifts; rotation or straight 8s TBD)
- On-call for all shifts and weekends as needed
Dean's Professional Services is actively seeking an Anesthesia Technician II to support a high-acuity surgical services environment. This position provides experienced, independent support to anesthesiologists and the clinical team in all anesthetizing locations. The ideal candidate MUST have at least 3 years of anesthesia technician experience , with pediatrics and/or women's services highly preferred .
Responsibilities:
- Provides support to anesthesia providers across all anesthetizing locations including OR, Cath Lab, OB/GYN, and cardiovascular suites.
- Assists with preparation and placement of neurophysiologic monitors.
- Supports induction by connecting patients to monitors and preparing necessary equipment.
- Assists with intubation and maintenance of the patient's airway.
- Assists with insertion of IVs and other invasive lines.
- Anticipates and supports anesthesiologists during invasive procedures including arterial access, central venous access, fiberoptic intubation, and difficult airway management.
- Provides continual support to the interdisciplinary patient care team throughout procedures.
- Performs salvaged blood processing per departmental protocol.
- Assists anesthesiologists with volume infusions during intraoperative procedures.
- Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment, regardless of anesthetizing location, ensuring all supplies and devices are functioning properly.
- Serves as a mentor and resource to junior anesthesia technicians; assists with training and orientation.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required.
Certification (must have ONE):
- CER-A-T - Certified Anesthesia Technician (ASATT)
OR
- Associate's Degree from an ASATT-approved anesthesia technician training program
- 5 years of anesthesia technician experience may be accepted in lieu of the CER-A-T certification.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an anesthesia technician required.
- Pediatrics and/or women's services experience preferred.
Skills:
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of the cardiopulmonary systems and infection control practices.
- Advanced working knowledge of anesthesia and airway management equipment, including pressure transducer setup and IV fluid calibration.
- Ability to anticipate anesthesiologist needs during procedures.
- Skilled in troubleshooting anesthesia-related equipment issues.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow direction from physicians and clinical staff.
- Demonstrates speed and accuracy in preparation for emergencies and trauma procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff across multiple departments.
