The Yard Jockey is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers, containers, and equipment within the warehouse yard. This role supports both inbound and outbound operations by ensuring trailers are properly positioned for loading and unloading, maintaining yard organization, and communicating with warehouse teams to prioritize trailer movements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Move trailers within the yard using yard trucks or tractors.
• Shuttle tankers, hoppers, and containers between designated areas.
• Transport refrigerated trailers to fueling stations as needed.
• Communicate with Inbound and Outbound Leads to prioritize trailer moves.
• Document and verify trailer movements for operational tracking.
• Perform visual inspections of trailers and report any damage or maintenance needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment.
• Assist with loading and unloading tasks when required.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE.
• Operate forklifts and other warehouse vehicles as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in yard operations or heavy equipment handling.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
• Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures.
• Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy objects.
• Attention to detail and ability to track inventory movements.
• Effective communication and time management skills.

• Fast-paced warehouse yard setting.
• Exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
• Requires physical activity and safe operation of heavy equipment.
