Job Description:

Primary skill focus (must-have)

1. Integration & data-flow troubleshooting
   1. Experience supporting system-to-system integrations (APIs, file-based, message-driven, batch)
   2. Able to reason through end-to-end data movement, not just the failing endpoint
   3. Comfortable identifying whether the issue is:

i. Source system

ii. Transformation

iii. Transport

iv. Target system

1. 1. Understands retry patterns, idempotency, and failure modes
2. Strong SQL and data analysis
   1. Confident writing non-trivial SQL to:

i. Validate data completeness

ii. Reconcile records across systems

iii. Diagnose timing, duplication, or missing data issues

1. 1. Able to answer: "Is this a data issue, a process issue, or a system issue?"
2. Java engineering depth (build + enhance)
   1. Strong hands-on Java development experience delivering production services (design, coding, testing, code reviews).
   2. Able to implement enhancements: bug fixes, small - large features, refactors, and reliability improvements
   3. Comfortable diagnosing production issues using logs, stack traces, and runtime symptoms.
3. Batch and job execution support
   1. Experience with scheduled processes (PeopleSoft batch, mainframe jobs, schedulers)
   2. Knows how to:

i. Analyze batch logs

ii. Identify upstream/downstream job dependencies

iii. Safely rerun or recover failed jobs

1. 1. Understands operational risk and data integrity when restarting processes
2. Production support mindset
   1. Comfortable in incident-driven environments
   2. Can triage quickly, stabilize first, then diagnose
   3. Knows how to communicate clearly during incidents (what failed, impact, next steps)

Secondary / supporting skills (nice-to-have)

• Financial domain awareness
  • Understanding of GL, payments, reconciliation, etc. is beneficial
  • Not required to be a finance SME
• PeopleSoft familiarity
  • Helpful for navigation and terminology
  • Not required to be a functional/config expert
  • Value is in understanding batch behavior and integration touchpoints
• Mainframe exposure
  • Useful for MIT / CDS context
  • Focused on operational integration points, not deep COBOL development
