Job Title: Orthopedic Assistant / Orthopedic Technician

We are seeking a skilled Orthopedic Assistant / Orthopedic Technician to support orthopedic physicians and physician assistants in delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will assist with clinical procedures, patient intake, casting and splinting, and documentation while ensuring efficient patient flow within the clinic. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced orthopedic environment.
Assist orthopedic physicians and physician assistants with patient care, including casting, splinting, and management of orthopedic devices such as braces and external fixators.
Support patient intake, rooming, charting, and documentation in the electronic medical record system.
Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas by ensuring they are organized, clean, and fully stocked .
Anticipate physician needs during procedures and ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are prepared in advance .
Apply orthopedic devices to patients ranging from infants to geriatric populations .
Remove sutures or staples, change dressings, and assist with patient follow-up care within scope of practice.
Obtain patient histories and assist physicians with clinical preparation.
Manage patient flow to ensure timely and efficient clinic operations.
Respond to patient phone messages and return calls within the same business day.
Document nursing notes, medication refill requests, and relevant patient updates in medical charts.
Assist with surgery documentation including orders, consents, and chart preparation .
Scan patient records and maintain accurate documentation.
Process Durable Medical Equipment (DME) applications when needed.
Participate in continuing education to stay updated on orthopedic techniques and equipment .
Follow all clinic policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines while maintaining professional conduct.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and patient-centered approach.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a busy clinical setting.
Proficiency with general office equipment (computer, printer, scanner, telephone).
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities .
Excellent written and verbal communication skills .
High School Diploma, GED, or higher degree required.
Orthopedic Technician Certification - Required
BLS Certification (American Heart Association) - Required
