Role Overview :
The Title Grants and Support division administers federal and state funding, professional development, and technical assistance to Indiana's local educational agencies (LEAs) to support high-quality educational opportunities for students. This specialist will support these goals by overseeing grant allocations and distributions, managing fiscal and programmatic components of grants, and offering technical assistance on allowable activities and related regulations. The ideal candidate collaborates effectively, communicates clearly, is proficient in using systems and spreadsheets to track grantee data, and understands the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) and its implementation in the field.
While this specialist may work across any of the division's grant programs, this specialist will serve as the lead for the 21st Century Community Learning Center program, a federally-funded program awarded to public school districts, charter schools, community-based organizations, public/private organizations, faith-based organizations or a consortium of these organizations, in order to provide youth a safe environment during non-school hours. This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for youth, particularly youth who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps youth meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, offers youth a broad array of enrichment activities that help their social, emotional, and behavioral development, and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating youth.
