The new event dates for the Hobart Schools Triathlon Challenge Events are as below:

Wednesday 5th December – Secondary Schools & Colleges

Thursday 6th December – Primary Schools

Schools have been advised of this earlier today and will sort out new arrangements, there will no doubt be unavoidable clashes with prior commitments, but please work through these at school level

I am extremely happy that with wonderful support from Blundstone Arena Management, Clarence City Council, Tasmania Police and all event suppliers, officials etc etc that these new dates have been able to be secured.

To help tomorrow morning, use the below with the transition map
Grade 5’s are in the Derwent Street Car Park (Transition Area 1 on map)
Grade 6’s and Grade 3’s (Beach Street Car Park – 6’s in the top half, 3’s at the bottom half) (Transition Area 2 on map)
Grade 4’s On the Grass area on the left hand side of the bike track (Transition Area 3 on the map)
The racks are all long straight lines and we hope this will help make it easier with all boys on a row, teams down the middle and girls down the other side, with Crowd Control Barrier on each side as overflow.
The Duathlon format went really well with the secondary students and I know that the Primary students will take it head on and love it 🙂

Please be advised that due to current water conditions the Swim Leg of The Hobart STC events on Thursday and Friday have been cancelled. The Swim leg will be replaced with a run leg and students will be briefed prior to their event as usual to find out the information they need to complete the course.

So the show will go on as a Duathlon with the format being
Run / Ride / Run……all students who would have been doing the swim leg as an individual or in a relay team will need to have clothing and footwear suitable for a run leg and also bring your swim caps along so we can make it a colourful affair with a mass run start with swim caps on, Don’t forget to number mark your arms and legs in permanent marker

Heavy rain over the past weekend has resulted in a massive stormwater runoff across the entire Derwent Estuary, placing a heavier than normal loading on the beaches. Further rain/precipitation is predicted for tomorrow and Friday.

Department of Health and Human Services recommends against swimming at recreational water sites for three days following heavy rainfall. This advice is particularly pertinent at sites which are subject to significant urban run- off/presence of stormwater pipe infrastructure.

Consequently, Bellerive Beach will be closed to swimmers until further notice. Signage will be put in place at Bellerive Beach in accordance with Department of Health and Human Services Recreational Water Quality Guidelines 2007.

See you all tomorrow or Friday and lets embrace a slightly different format for our 10th anniversary event.

CRITICAL – Please find the Traffic Flow Map and Notes under Event Information “Other Info” tab
All cars will travel along Scott Street, down Chapman Street and back up Queen Street as per 2016.
# NEW: ALL buses will travel down Derwent Street and drop students next to Blundstone Arena and then depart via Park Street
# NEW: NO TRAFFIC will be allowed through the GREEN ZONE on the Bus Car Pick up map (except residents in that strip)
# NEW: Bus layover area in Church Street as per map / OR in South Street at the Dog Training Park area (There is heaps of space there – Cars are encouraged to park in the dog training area in South Street aswell.
It is important that your bus drivers understand this traffic Flow and parking areas that they can move to after they drop you off.
It is important that you have your bus drivers Mobile Number and that they have yours so that you can contact each other at the end of the day to call them into the pick up zone.
Please fwd this email onto your bus company’s so they are aware and can print of maps and nots etc or copy them off so you can give to the driver on the day. I have also emailed bus company’s generic email.
This Traffic Management Plan has been put in place in consultation with Clarence City Council and falls more in line with the Blundstone Arena TMP that is now used for major events held at the Arena.
## ALSO, to avoid the congestion in the Rosny / Eastlands area…It is advised that to get to Bellerive Beach to avoid traffic congestion that all traffic coming off the Tasman Bridge should follow the Tasman Highway, take the slip lane to South Arm Highway and follow until the Shoreline Round about and then turn right onto Clarence Street and follow to Bellerive Cricket Ground.
All Cars, should drop off and then move to parking areas in adjoining streets away from the event site, or the Dog Training Area in South Street, where there is a large area for parking.
Please remember normal parking and traffic rules apply, so please do not leave your vehicle unattended in a restricted area or in residential parking spaces as parking marshals may be checking and issuing fines to Illegally parked vehicles. Council and Police will also be following up with vehicles that impede residents access.
